Receiving Shipment Guide

  1. Preparation:

    • Ensure that someone is available to receive the shipment during the scheduled delivery window.
    • Clear a space in the receiving area to accommodate the delivery.
    • Have helpers and necessary equipment ready for unloading, such as a hand truck. 
  2. Inspection:

    • When the shipment arrives, carefully inspect the exterior of the packaging for any visible damage or signs of mishandling.
    • Note any damages or discrepancies on the delivery receipt or bill of lading before signing.
    • If possible, take photographs of any damaged areas for documentation purposes.
  3. Unloading:

    • Coordinate with the delivery personnel to safely unload the shipment from the delivery vehicle.
    • Use appropriate equipment and lifting techniques to prevent injury and damage to the products.
  4. Counting and Verification:

    • Verify the quantity of items received against the packing slip or invoice.
    • Check that all items listed on the packing slip are present and accounted for.
    • Inspect the products for any visible defects or discrepancies from the order.
  5. Acceptance:

    • Sign the delivery receipt or bill of lading only after completing the inspection and verification process.
    • If there are any concerns about the condition or completeness of the shipment, make notes on the delivery documentation and inform the carrier.
  6. Storage:

    • Move the received items to their designated storage area promptly.
    • Store products in a clean, dry environment away from hazards such as moisture or direct sunlight.
  7. Documentation:

    • Keep copies of all shipping documents, including the delivery receipt, packing slip, and any photographs of damages.
    • Retain these records for future reference in case of returns, exchanges, or warranty claims.
  8. Contact:

    • If there are any issues with the received shipment, promptly contact the shipping carrier and LA Design Furniture's customer service team for assistance and resolution.
